The 2026 Squirrel Cook-Off Beneficiary
David Morrow has been selected as the beneficiary for the 2026 Squirrel Cook-Off, taking place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Willie’s Campground, located at 1409 Hwy 10 in Washington, Louisiana.
David is a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life has been defined by his love for family, unwavering faith, and willingness to help others.
In November 2025, David was diagnosed with Stage IV Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma, a cancer that originated in his kidney and has since spread to his lungs, brain, and liver. Since his diagnosis, he has been receiving specialized care at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, often traveling for weeks at a time to undergo treatment. Throughout his journey, David has undergone four radiation procedures to treat brain metastases and is currently on an oral chemotherapy regimen as he continues his fight against this disease.
This year, David and his wife, Linda, celebrate 34 years of marriage. Together they have built a beautiful family that includes their three daughters, Sarah Prejean, Caitlin Briley, and Lindsay Morrow; two sons-in-law, Ross Prejean and Sean Briley; and three cherished grandchildren, Sawyer Prejean, Walker Prejean, and Penelope Briley.
Born and raised in Melville, Louisiana, David and Linda later settled in Opelousas, where they raised their family and continue to reside. For more than 20 years, David worked in the RV industry, earning the nickname "SuperDave" for his incredible work ethic, dependability, and the countless ways he is always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Throughout his cancer journey, David has remained steadfast in his Catholic faith, drawing strength and hope from God each day. He has met with Father Manny Fernandez and attended a healing Mass celebrated by him, highlighting experiences that have further strengthened his faith during this difficult season.
Rather than allowing his diagnosis to define him, David has focused on making memories with the people he loves most, embracing every opportunity to spend meaningful time with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
It is an honor to recognize David Morrow as this year's Squirrel Cookout benefactor. Every act of support helps ease the burden of his ongoing medical journey and reminds the Morrow family that they are surrounded by a community that continues to stand beside them every step of the way.
Please join us in showing David and his family all the love and support our community has to offer!
As always, much love, many thanks, and God Bless!
